Shapeshifting into these sea monsters, sirens are often depicted as half human half fish or bird, potentially an attempt to stigmatise women who embrace their wild souls; isolated from society, they have rejected domesticity.
A contemporary trio, choreographed and performed by Aimee Ruhinda, Chiara Martina Halter and Ronan Cardoza, offering an insight into the daily lives of two unemployed sirens who have run out of sailors to drown. Being faced with the harsh reality of having no other skillset to fall back on other than their predatory charms they are now rising to confront whether their potent allure is a tool of power or a tragedy. Through this Greek mythological archetype this project uses fantasy plot devices to interact…
