"The craftly uncanniness behind the semblance of things" is a solo dance that speaks in the imagery of darkness as the stage in which the ego is confronted with the weight of its earthliness and alienation to the self, but also with an intimate and deep force, the will to exist and act in this world. I question our relation to the (in)visible, how places of friction and struggle oft en isolate us from our own selves and everything other until we find ways of liberating the body and its memory from preoccupying assumptions and habits. I am engaging in the practice of a sensual body, attempting to open pathways to an emotionally rich and magical encounter with life.

Meggie Blankschyn was born in northern Germany and began her dance training at Tanzfabrik Berlin e.V., where she completed the Dance Intensive program. In 2018 she began her Bachelor's degree in dance at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy, where she was trained in various contemporary dance techniques as well as Hungarian folk dance. She then studied at La Manufacture - Haute école des Arts de la Scène in Lausanne, Switzerland (under the direction of Thomas Hauert), where she worked with various artists, including David Zambrano, Jonathan Burrows, Krisa Parkinson, Shelly Senter (Trisha Brown Company), Horacio Macuacua, Yasmine Hugonnet, Martin Kilvady and many more. Since then, complementary to dance, she has also pursued a practice in Saolim Kung Fu and voice training. Since 2024, in addition to her freelance work, Meggie has been a university assistant at La Manufacture for the Dance department and accompanies students during workshops and creations, and is a member of the research project Diversity in Dance Education. She works with Judith Sanchez Ruiz (JSR Company), Radical Empathy (SK), Bloom Bloom Company (CH) and creates her own projects between Braunschweig and Lausanne.
