Die Wurzeln des House Dance liegen in den Clubs von Chicago und New York; er entstand aus einer Vielzahl kultureller Tanzstile, darunter afrikanischer Tanz, lateinamerikanischer Tanz, Stepptanz, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Breakdance und Kampfkünste, und entwickelte mit der Zeit ein eigenes Bewegungsrepertoire.
Im Workshop wird eine Balance zwischen dem Erlernen grundlegender Bewegungen, rhythmischer Fußarbeit, Choreografien und dem Üben von Freestyle (Improvisation) geschaffen, wobei die Teilnehmer:innen ihre eigene Kreativität entfalten und sich mit anderen Tänzer:innen verbinden können.
Da House Dance kulturell in einem „Cypher“ (einem Kreis) praktiziert wird, ist die Ausrichtung gegenüber dem Publikum 360 Grad – daher werden die Teilnehmer:innen aufgefordert, den neu gelernten Schritten eine Struktur zu geben, die in einem kreisförmigen Raum zur Geltung kommt. --- The roots of House Dance lie in clubs in Chicago and New York; it was formed from a range of cultural dance styles, including African dance, Latin dance, tap dance, jazz, hip hop, breakdance and martial arts, and formed its own vocabulary with time.
The workshop will balance between learning foundational movement, footwork rhythmical drills, routines, and the practice of freestyle (improvisation) where the participants will develop their own creativity and connect with fellow dancers. As House Dance is culturally practiced in a cypher the orientation towards the “viewers” is 360 degrees, thus participants will be asked to apply structure to the newly learned steps that come into play with a circular space.

Darya, geboren in Belarus, hat seit 25 Jahren Tanzerfahrung und arbeitet als Tanzkünstlerin, Performerin und Choreografin. Sie verfügt über einen vielseitigen Hintergrund in verschiedenen Streetdance-Stilen (House, Hip-Hop) und bringt umfangreiche Erfahrung in der Battle-Szene mit. Darya hat einen Masterabschluss in Tanz – mit dem Ziel, Streetdance-Stile wie House stärker anzuerkennen und sichtbar zu machen. Als Aktivistin der House-Dance-Kultur und Gründerin von Events wie „The Empire House Jam“ (London) und „Body Talk“ (Minsk) bleibt sie der House-Szene treu. Sie praktiziert weiterhin aktiv House Dance, kreiert Theaterstücke über Clubkultur, gibt Workshops in ganz Europa und ist außerdem als DJ tätig.

Darya, born in Belarus, has dance experience of 25 years and works as a dance artist, performer and choreographer. She has a diverse background of street dance styles (House, Hip-Hop), and rich experience in dance battle scene. Darya has an MA degree in dance, where her main goal was to push street styles like House to be recognized. She works as an activist in house dance culture and is the founder of House dance events like “The Empire House Jam” (London), “Body Talk” (Minsk), Darya continues practicing House Dance, making theatre performances about club culture, giving workshops around Europe, while also being a DJ.
